styrofoam chunks used as floats in bucket feeder
I've got a plastic bucket inside my TBH filled with syrup and have thrown a handful of styrofoam chunks in to keep them from drowning. They are indeed nibbling at the floats, so I now have little bits of foam floating in the soup. No one has said anything about this hurting the girls. Anyone heard different? - Mike

mhorowit,
No idea if it affects the bees or not. But you could put a piece of burlap over the styrofoam chunks. THe burlap will wick up the syrup and the bees can walk on it easly.
