I just finished building a home made bee vac and if you want to do cut outs this is the way to go. I got to use it on my third cut out and what a difference it made. By the end of the job there were only returning foragers left flying around. No balls of honey soaked bees caked in dirt on the ground. If you are contemplating cut outs make one for yourself they are great.

yes bee vacs are a wonderful thing. I Made the two bucket style one with the bucket vac from home depot works like a charm and it only cost about 25.00 to make..
You show yours and I'll take a pic of mine BEFORE I improve it. It's not bad now, but separate box for large cutouts would be better, and my emptying system is primitive. Effective, but primitive.
