Do robber bees eat eggs in the hive?

I am still learning to identify robbing. Happened across this article. Tells what they rob, how to spot it, prevent it, etc.

Starving bees will eat eggs in their own hive - at least I think I read that on the internet. It must be true. If so, robbing could cause eggs to be eaten.

I made a robber screen and installed it last night just before dark. Talk about alot of confused girls. I read on here that the workers living in the hive would have no problem finding their way back in if shut in for the night. Well I have hundreds of bees trying to get in today. Lots are robbers, but several have filled pollen baskets so I assume they are residents of the hive. Robbers dont carry in pollen do they? About 5 per minute are actually finding their way in. Lots of bees inside the screen trying to get out. Maybe 1-2 per minute are successful.

If you cover the screened part of the robber screen with something - masking tape, aluminum foil, whatever - for a day or two until the foragers orient to the opening they will have an easier time of it. Unfortunately if you already have lots of robbing going on this can also help the robbers figure it out. But if you are deploying robber screens preemptively it helps a lot.

The word that the resident bees won't have any problem figuring it out never got around to my bees either.
