New wasp in Greece?
Photographing certain apiarian plants I observed an insect that I do not have look again. He was too much competitive with the bees but also with the rests of his species. Above in the tree it would be roughly 40 from them. It resembles with very with wasp, but flies as wild bee making swings and abrupt movements. In the size he is double than a honey bee or common wasp. In the network I did not find photograph that his would resemble. Know does no one what is it?
Look photos in http://meli-tzoumerka.blogspot.com/
Sorry for my English

Re: New wasp in Greece?
It may be a type of Hornet. I am not sure. We have European Hornets here in the South Eastern U.S. that are a little bit more orange/yellow in color that resemble your picture.

Re: New wasp in Greece?
Try Searching for Vespa crabro this is the Scientific name of the European Hornet and it looks a lot like your photo.

Re: New wasp in Greece?
Looks like it is an Asiatic Wasp. They kill honey bees.
I believe they are as far north as Normandy in France now. Surprised you haven't been seeing them in Greece for several years.
