I am an active, registered, trained adult Scouter in Shenandoah Area Council, Mannahoac District (WV/VA) in the northern portion of the Shenandoah Valley.
Beekeeping merit badge was one of the earliest merit badges offered to Scouts in the United States from 1915 … until it was discontinued in 1995. This fascinating skill is just as relevant to character building for the youth in our country today as it was a century ago.
And it would be one more great active, age-appropriate outdoor adventure for growing boys.

I'd be happy to teach some boy scouts all about beekeeping. I have done classes for a few years now and think it would be great to get more kids into this or at the very least make sure they know how important honey bee's are to us.
