Observing a Yellow Jacket
Today while watering some plants on my front porch I noticed an unusual movement on the window sill.
This window sill is the landing board for the entrance to my observation hive inside.
The movement that caught my eye was a moth being stung by a yellow jacket. I stood and watched as the yellow jacket chewed off the left wing, then the right wing and carried off the body to its nest.
I had never witnessed the methodical disassembly of a moth this way before.
It was truly fascinating to observe.
Drone "rolled" by 3 Yellow Jackets
On the ground in front of a hive yesterday, I saw 3 yellow Jackets "rolling" a drone. I took a heavy footed action to stop this sort of activity.
I haven't seen them bothering the workers yet.
