I just caught another massive swarm today, 5/22/07. The owner said it was on the side of his machine shop. By the time I got there it was in the wall, and boy was there alot of them. Sucked the girls out with my Bee Vac. I had another call today, but by the time the first swarm was secured, the second swarm was gone.
I got 2 swarm calls recently. One on May 20 and another on May 21. Clear day in the 80s. No hives nearby that I know of.
Perrysville, IN - West of Indy on the Illinois line. Zip 47974
Sometime around May 5 to 15, didnt see them but half the hives gone and freshly emerged swarm cell with a new queen is what I found yesterday.
Sorry Zip 06751
I had 1 swarm on Saturday the 19th.
2 swarms on Monday the 21st and
1 swarm today Wednesday the 23rd.
I have yet to catch one of them. They are Russian bees that handle the mites well as far as I can see so I hope they make it as feral bees.
Nice big swarm on a low branch. Came from a bee tree in a guys yard. Chittenango NY 13037 78 degrees sunny
The first one was on March 11 which is about 2 weeks earlier than normal and still getting calls. Zip 31216.
Well my massive swarm from yesterday decided to go into my neighbors cedar tree. They were about 40 feet up, so I climbed up there and cut down the branch only to have them cluster higher. Looks like this one is going to be a feral hive. I even placed a frame of open brood in the deep after I hived them and they still took off.
I went and got another swarm today, 5/23/07. I am gonna keep this swarm enclosed in a well ventilated nuc for a few days.
As soon as they could. Saw them fly out the first week of April.
