I have searched for over a hour today to find this drawing..last year it was everywhere..for some reason it has disappeared from where it was ..this is the best i can find..do any of you know where a link to a better picture is?thanks!!
No, but here are some photos of a very similar design being built. Click on the thumbnails for bigger pictures.
can you add a regular super to this also?
most of the tbh's plans ive seen are 19 inches wide.. why do you choose 15?
also "The brood nest is 1 1/4" wide bars and the honey is 1 1/2" wide bars"
how many 1 1/2 bars do yu use and where do you use them?in the middle? most call for 1 3/8 through ut the hive..thanks!!

Not really. But I do on the Tanzanian one further down that page.

I was trying to recover from previous TTBH that was 10" deep and 19 7/8" wide (19" bars) and it collapsed. So my two experiments were to go with 1) a narrower bar (15") and an angle (KTBH); and 2) a shallower comb (TTBH). Both worked. I did build a similar KTBH with a 19" bar but I sold it to someone else since I wanted to pursue the ones that were interchangable with my medium depth Langstroth hives. I like the 19" bar medium depth ones a lot.

I made them half and half and I just keep putting the 1 1/4" where the bees are until they start building storage comb that is wider and then I start putting the 1 1/2" ones in since that's what the bees seem to want to build anyway. In the end a few spares are nice.
>in the middle?
I started them with the 1 1/4" bars in the front and the bees cooperated by clustering there. If they hadn't, I would have moved the 1 1/4" bars into the area.
> most call for 1 3/8 through ut the hive..
When I did 1 3/8" the bees would cheat them smaller in the brood area and larger in the honey storage area. I just figured I wouldn't fight them. Plus I think the 1 1/4" spaced ones get smaller cells.
If you want a 19" bar with supers, look at the bottom of this page:
