Yesterday I was out ot get some cord as mentioned by Pedro.
What I found was a cord of about 3/16 dia. but was mostly synthetic material. Obviously not suited for the purpose . A thinner cord made of hemp and organic covering was also there but the dia was only about 1/8 th.
Will this thinner cord also work out ?

As usual, I would like to emphasize that trying variations of the recommended methods
emplyed in my trials is is fine but may cause
difficulties in the long run. Please bear in mind that I do not make public trials before I am definitly convinced that the results can
be duplicated by repetition.
As much as I like to comment on the afore
mentioned cords, I am not able to do it because I have not tried those in my work.
I can foresee difficulties using hemp because
the tiny pieces of the material may fall into open honey cells. I would like to insist on using cords with a cotton core that becomes
lint/like when chewed by the bees. The outer
synthetic cover is similarly removed with the
cotton shreds.
I am told that upholstery cord of the type used in my trials is readily available from
upholstery materials suppliers.
Again, while attempts at finding other substitutes may be commendable, I would like to suggest continuance with a known and proved material that is effective.
