In order to know how many bottles to buy I need some idea on how many pounds of honey is contained within the avg. medium depth super. Does anyone have any idea? I thought it may be about 35 lbs but wasn't sure.

Up here we usually figure 30 pounds for a shallow super, 50 pounds for a medium, and 70 pounds for a deep. Keep in mind these are ten frame supers COMPLETELY full. Hope this helps, maybe others will have a different opinion about weights.

Our bee society works on 3lb per shallow super frame, 4lb per brood frame. Personally I get more out with late season honey than early as the early is thicker and I only have a manual extractor.

I always have more jars then honey, just in case. Every time I am in the store, I check prices for bottles or canning jars and if it is cheep I buy it. So far I could get best price in the "Big Lots"
