I live in east Essex, UK and have about 1 /2 an acre of land that I am contemplating using for bee keeping.
Are there any organisations I can contact for advise and where can I purchase bees and hives and all the equipment that may be needed.

If I am not mistaken, I believe Dave Cushman is a beekeeper in England. He has a "busy" but interesting and fairly comprehensive website on beekeeping. You might try visiting the site to see if he has info on bee purchase and supply links. The address is (I hope it's okay to put a website address on this site)

Good luck
Oh, I forgot to mention that one of the moderators on this board is from England- Robert Brenchley (Pests and Diseases forum).
I'm a fair way away from Essex unfortunately, and don't have any contacts there. There must be a local Beekeepers' Association, but I don't know how to contact it.
