Hi,Can ya keep 4 colony hives on a pallet all the time ? We had some on pallets all year and lost 13 for no reason,I thought it might be that.We didn't lose any that we had seperated 3-4 feet. What do you think ? These are ones we just bought and they are different breed from others we have and lost none of the other breed but they were not on a 4 way pallet either.
Thanks very much,John
OK,I guess it is the no good bees, not good at house keeping.I know some breed of bees are alot better at house keeping then others and that is how they keep varroa mites under control, good bees.Guess I'll re-queen them with my good bees that have no big problem with voarroa mites.
It is not the 4 way pallets that cause the problems. I use them and have for years. My partner for 30 years. We don't run the plywood ones but, 4 individual hives mounted on a pallet. This way I can move one to another easily and still use the boom on my truck for manipulations.
Yes and they been doing fine for 5 years, splits and all.Never lost any to mites.
