I have a split that has laying workers in it. I put a frame of brood & larvae in it hoping to get them to make a queen. This is what I found a few days later. I have never seen this. Why did the larvae die? Were there too few bees to take care of it?
I would think either there were not enough bees in the split to cover or they were killed/damaged during transfer. Young larvae can chill or dry out very easily.
