Going good here, this is my 2nd year and I'm still building. My one hive from last year (that gave me 65 lbs) was so big that I aggressively split in the spring and toyed with raising queens. I bought 2 early packages, sold 3 Nuc's, caught 1 swarm which i later combined with a weak hive, and was given 1 full 10 frame hive from someone who couldn't handle it.
I currently have 7 hives & 1 nuc that needs to be put in a 10 frame box, I extracted 130 lbs. from 4 med. supers 3 weeks ago & it almost all gone already!
I'm trying to get everything in place to maximize the Japanese Knotweed crop. Hoping for the best...
Trying to keep up with this many hives is a challenge, but fun.
Haven't treated much at all or fed much either. Trying to just maintain strong hives and treat when necessary. So far they are good, manageable mite loads and next to no beetles. I probably will start feeding a few that I want to draw out, or at least start on another box before winter.
