    Robbo,
I can only agree with you that BeeSource.com is a wonderful thing because it brings together all who are interested in the beekeeping fraternity.
Recently while researching how to build a hive scale I found that Andrew Janiak in Melbourne, NSW (andrew@fieldbus.com.au) had invented and was patenting a scale. We have corresponded a number of times and he has been extremely helpful in giving me advise and pointers on how to construct a scale for my own use. If interested you might contact Andrew to see if he has gotten to the point of commercial production of his beehive scale. From reviewing the manual he sent me it looks like it will do a very good job if you want to track weight gain/loss on a daily or weekly basis.
My beesource handle is: bearcreeksteve. I'm at 6,500 feet and still have snow in the air and on the ground. Have four hives. Bees are anxious and so am I for Spring growth.

    Best Regards,
    Steve
