Hi! We actually had a good year this year. Last year was horrendous, but this year made up for it. Our daughter has a couple of Russian colonies, but we started with Carniolans many years ago. We've only bought queens once. We've been raising our own so its hard to say what mix our genetics are now.

Fatscher (aka keith) is like my best beekeeping friend! He lives right up the street from me and I am his beek mentor, although he is doing way more than me (trap outs, etc.)_ I though I invited him, but will check

When I have used the turkey fryer I start with warm water and let it melt in the water. I ladle off the clean wax from the top and pour thru nylon hose stretched over a container. once I have most the clean wax off I shut it down let it cool. Then reomve the rest of the wax from the pot scrape the slumgum off. I then run that thru a pair of hose in a smaller pot . Hope this helps
