It certainly is! I actually live in Gillette and have family that lives in Wright. Do you ever make it over to Wyoming? What does your family do with the land? Are there people out there living on it... Does it perhaps need a colony or two placed on it? *wink* *wink* =)

I do not think that it is IAPV. I am leaning towards a chemical " thing " You may already know that there just no money what so ever to help with any type of testing for any of these bee problems

    Soupcan,
What kind of results are you seeing with your bees on sunflowers? I'll get back to you about the variety planted, mostly oil sunflowers though. We don't seek the sunflowers out for honey, they are just in the area where the alfalfa and clover bee yards are located. Do you think corn would be a problem as well?
And, in your opinion do the bees react the same from IAPV that they do from these sunflowers?
    Thanks, Tina

I am not sure of who Danny might be referring? You are looking for deeps with comb? Morris Weaver may have something listed.... sometimes there is a lot of stuff that accumulates out in the San Antonio area. I always assumed it was via California.. don't really know for certain. If it has set anywhere here in the south/southwest for very long you would definitely need to be ready to deal with moth.

if I can be of any further assistance to ya' just drop me a pm here.

    sincerely...

Don Thomas, the guys at Winter SD & Rapid City.
But Jim Lyons at Hetrick is in good shape he told me yesterday.
Our two neighbors Mike V. & Kerry Bramble have talked to quite a few beeks.
Kerry has people looking for brood in Texas next spring.
Mike took an extra 200 down that he usually gasses off up here do to all problems & calls he had so far.
Roger Bailey spoke with his broker Lyle Johnson this week & he seems to now think that bees will be short due to all the problems with his people in the last 3 to 4 weeks, that things have really changed.
Let me know as to what you two hear.

I keep hearing these stories too but no one is saying who lost them. I am wondering if it is Adee? I think the last time we had big losses was in the Dakotas when they had a poor year, sorta like this year was poor in parts. I do know a few beeks that lost a few but nothing to account for the rumors. I am wondering if this is almond spin?

Thanks. That should work. I'm glad they were pleased. The bees did well there. Lots of henbit and other early bloomers besides the apples. I had to put a super on each before they were done.
