Hi Michael, I am planning on making a lot of queens this year and I like your method. One thing that worries me about it is when you have that many bees in a hive you are going to have verroa on them, and there is no open brood accept the grafts that you put in. Are you not forcing the verroa to go into the queen cells?
I was considering placing drone comb in my brood factory let them get the drone larve just about ready to be capped and put that in along with my graft.
The drone larve should have all the feed they need so you aren't taking resources from your queen cells, and the older open brood should trap all the verroa.
What do you think? Do you have a better suggestion? Thanks

Sorry to bother you but I just had to ask you if you might be willing to sell me your queens next spring? I've become a hugh fan of yours and will be trying to emulate your management style/techniques and can't think of a better start than having your proven queens in my hives. Thank you for all the help you give the beekeeping community. Charlie mcdonald in Bozeman Montana

    Mr Palmer,
I have been unknowingly practicing your sustainable apiary plan for several years. I have a wonderfully hardy bee yard full of Ohio queens, but I would like to purchase some of your queens to improve my stock even further. Please let me know how I can purchase some of your 2016 queens.
    Thank you so much,

I have a question. I contacted you earlier about the article you wrote on Beesource, as well as your videos I viewed. As I'm making splits, I'm making them into a divided 10 frame box that has 1/2" plywood divider. Both sides draw out queen cells, but only one side has mated queen. Do I need to only put them into these boxes mated queens, or I just had bad luck, fluke, bees killing queen because of pheromone. I've only done 2 boxes so far. I have 3 more made to make splits for. The tolerances are equidistant to one box setting on another

    Thanks

    Hi!

You came out and spoke to the Pikes Peak Beekeepers Association recently. During your presentation, you showed a copy of the form you use for documenting hive inspections. Is there somewhere I can find a copy of that?

    Thanks!

    Hello, Michael

I want to thank you for your generosity with your experience and bee wisdom.

I've learned a great deal from you, not only of technique, but also pragmatic approach to beekeeping, using the bee's instincts and biology to solve problems and overcome challenges.

I appreciate you...a man who has a combination of confidence and humility on those occasions when you address wrong headed thinking.

You make a positive difference in the world, and I am a richer manfoe having been exposed to you, your thinking, and the bee lorevyounhave shared.

    Thanks.

Hi Mike how's things going over there? Very poor spring here so season started bad with a lot of syrup feed. But have had a long stretch of hot dry weather. So a nice flow is on. But I'm just increasing my hive numbers this season not to stressed re the honey. Question when you add a honey super to your nucs above a excluder does it not matter that the bee's from each side get mixed up ? Or do you partition the honey super?
    Thanks Dale.

Hey Mike I know you stay busy and Ihate to bother you so I will make this quick. I have kept bees for a short time and have come to love it so I plan on beginning expansion from hobbiest to sideliner next year. I have 7 hives now. 5 production and 2 double stack nucs. I am ordering 25 5 frame nucs to begin my expansion for next year. My two questions are: with your sustainable apiary method how many of the he new nucs I'm ordering should become breeder nucs to grow my apiary while not sacrificing too much production and having only foundation available how many splits from the nucs can I reasonably expect to make next year. Thank you in advance for any help. Your voice in the beekeeping community is priceless!

Do you have any queens available? Looking for three, shipped to ME 04029. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've been out of beekeeping for years, finding that a lot has changed, great to be able to read and watch videos about your experiences and see what works. Thanks!

I don't think 4 frames is an issue. I use 9 in my 10 frame boxes anyway, so no big deal. If you use 10 or 11 in a 10 frame then maybe you want a narrower divider so 5 will fit. Don't make it too tight or you'll roll bees and queens when you pull frames.

    Wax dipping is okay.

Mike I am following in your footsteps, I am gearing up to make a bunch of double nuc boxes. I have a couple of concerns though.
Your double 4 frame nuc looks very loose, is that ideal, or does it have no affect?
Would I be better to make a custom box to fit them exact?
If so should I make it a 5 frame nuc?
one last question. How do you feel about dipping hive boxes in paraffin wax to preserve it with the wood grain exposed?
