I am looking at hives/frames/supers and am looking at Mann Lake. Their writeups about knots and such is out of my realm of knowledge. Anyone care to comment on their products? They also advertise free shipping, but I have not looked into any type of fine print on that.
Thanks!

I have been very satisfied with ML. I have bought hundreds of frames, plastic and wood, dozens of deep boxes, many lbs of small cell foundation, and miscellaneous other items. Shipping is free on orders over $100. Make it worth your while.

I bought budget grade deeps, awesome price, free shipping, hard to put together( box joints were slightly off), so if you have a lot to put together it could be frustrating.

Or buy commercial grade instead of budget (you cant complain about quality if you buy the worst they offer...) and have no problems at all. I have started buying all my equipment from Mann Lake. Brushy Mt would be my next choice, but with free shipping and the quality i have been receiving from Mann Lake, they have got a customer!!!

I don't like the new design of their frames. The top bar is thinner than it used to be and I can't get a nail in from the sidebar into the topbar anymore... Also the new frames seemed to be made out of almost balsa wood, VERY soft, this can't be a good thing for durability.
My 2 cents.

Mann Lake for years. Budget boxes is all I buy..the bees don't seem to mind either. Over $100 is free shipping. No brainer here. I just received 1000 PF120 door to door in a week.

After mostly good reviews, I called them up and they are backordered on 8 frame boxes, which is what I wanted. Do I want to order 10 frames or be nice to my back...

The weight difference between 8 and 10 isn't really all that much, I started switching to 8 frame equipment a few years ago and now have sold it all and gone back to 10 frame equipment.

Hmm. Would you mind in depth reasons as to why you switched back? I was thinking medium 10 frames might be about the same weight.

I purchased frames and plastic foundation from Mann Lake and am extremely happy with them as well as the free shipping! I like their frames better than another supplier (I won't say here).

Availability of equipment. I completely switched to 8 frame, but then when I got into a bind and needed more supers I wasn't always able to get them when I needed, so I started buying 10 frame stuff again and ended up with a mix. I also went from mediums to deeps because I relocated back to New England from Kentucky and I prefer Deep frames in the north. It provides more space for the cluster.

I have purchased from Mann Lake many times, I have to say they are great to deal with.
You get exactly what they advertise, and yes if you order over $100.00 the shipping is free,
no fine print. You can place your order with confidence and get what you wanted.
I like their online ordering because of their color coding so it's harder to make a mistake.

We just received an order from Mann Lake today. We ordered the select deeps and mediums. This wood is beautiful. The joints are TIGHT and a perfect fit. I may never go back to commercial again. I don't see any problem with the frames. We also ordered a couple of nucs. Great fit on the wood components. We placed the order on Monday afternoon via the internet. Order was on our doorstep this afternoon. That's fast. We had a new suit backordered, but it shipped out today. We will definitly use ML again

Though I've been trying to make my own equipment as much as possible, I needed a couple hundred frames and 10 deeps fast as well as small-cell foundation so I checked with Mann Lake. I ended up ordering 200 frames, the quality of which I can't complain. I didn't order the budget deeps since their write-up about loose knots and knots at the edges of the parts, etc. scared me off. Basically, their description made it sound like I should expect crap. (I ended up ordering the budget deeps from Humble Abode, Inc for about the same cost or maybe less, I don't remember. The quality of their budget boxes is excellent.)
The small cell foundation was a huge disappointment since, in the first half at least, I have yet to find a sheet intact. Most sheets have about a third or so broken off, some in large pieces, some shattered. These were unwired and I've since found out that Dadant has wired small cell foundation and that's what I should have ordered in the first place. Live and learn.

I order all my foundation during the summer months because if it get cold and someone drops the box that thin cold wax will shatter!!!

I just got through putting together 50 Mann Lake commercial deeps and 500 frames. If I could sum it up in one word, that would be, PERFECT.

Most of my orders go to MannLake. I have never had a problem with them. I order online and their delivery has always been quick. Never had a problem with frames I ordered or the foundation. There is no fine print on their free shipping. The products not covered by free shipping are marked but for the life of me, I haven't found one marked, though I know there must be some in there.

For orders to be shipped to me, I've purchased only from ML, so far. Great service and speed. BTW, I've also happily made purchases on site from Miller Bee Supply and Brushy Mt, both in NC. -James
