My winter food addiction is Texas Red Rio Star grapefruit. While in Green Bay last week we picked up a bag of (early?) grapefruit. They were pretty tasty but small. For those of you in Texas, how does the crop look this year? Can I expect to satisfy my addiction over next few months with some awesome fruit?
Thanks,
Fred

I just cut one up to prepare to eat and sat down at the computer and saw your post. The Texas Rio Star Grapefruit has taken the deceit out of the name grape fruit.
Usually here in East Texas we can get them for about 30 to 40 cents each, but my wife bought a few for me and had to pay $.68 each, quite a bit more than we are use to. I suspect you will have to pay this year for the addiction, but at least it's worth it. Lot healthier than a $1.00 candy bar.

The Texas Star has been in the local grocery stores the last couple of weeks. $5 bag. Not sure how many are in a bag. Looks like 10. I buy them per each count and pay about .70 each. There is a road side market just south of me and his are .95 each, but his taste better too.
My boss go's to south Texas hunting every year and brings back a few huge tubs of them. So I will be loaded up here in a few weeks. That and the biggest best avacados you ever had.
My fruit taste buds are craving some Clementine Oranges. I hate when I can find those!

I think I paid almost $4 for 5Lbs. I look for the bags with the least number of grapefruits because then they are bigger. I love living up here but sure could go south for a visit for some roadside grapefruit.
