in upstate ny we've been having alot of cold nights/warm days still. i went out to check my hives. one had moisture on the outer cover, dripped down on inner cover. the other hive had moisture on the inside of the inner cover. i have my hives tilted, i have extenders on both as i have place sugar blocks to winter feed...should i be doing something else or leave well enough alone. i also wrapped w/ felt paper as well but left some unwrapped for air flow.

That is why I don't wrap. Moisture is my biggest winter problem.

Do you have some kind of vent in the top of the hive to let the warm air out? If not condensation will continue to be a problem and could kill the hive. Jack

There's probably not much we can do with excess moisture in the air. The humidity changes constantly. It was raining inside my metal pole barn this morning. The frost created moisture inside the uninsulated barn and was dripping from the ceiling when the sun hit it. Heat loss from the cluster may prove fatal. Condensation forms when a dew point is reached. Indeed, the heat may help the hive from excess moisture in the first place. Insulating the lid (like your home) may be the best answer.
