I have 3 supers to extract. Problem is the wax is only drawn flush or less than to the frame, so I can’t use a knife. I don’t have a scratcher yet. In lieu of buying one for $7.00 and paying that much in freight. I thought about using a wire dog brush until I place a bulk order for supplies and get a scratcher. I can pick one up like the link below at Walmart for like $2.
Thoughts?

A dog "comb" looks like a beekeepers "scratcher", to me :)

I did about 20 frames a month ago and all I used was a fork to scratch the cappings(cost $.00 out of the kitchen drawer).I have an older hand crank extractor that will only hold 6 shallows or 3 deeps or illinois at a time.Didnt take much time to scratch them.then I just licked it off and threw it in the dishwasher.

I like the "hemichuck" method :)

Thanks Guys. I was just reading about the fork method in the archives. I will try that.

Why dont you let Chuck Norris round house kick the capping off?

Because I want to keep my cappings. I don't have a way to get into space and retrieve them. :D

I use a pastry thingy. It looks like a comb, with sharp pinted ends, but works great as a scappings scratcher. I have no idea what the correct name is, but it works great.
