My dear wife ran over my 4 month old basset hound today. crushed its hips and back. I had to put it down. My wife is death on animals with a F-250 . This one really hurt. I really liked that puppy.

Oooohhh that hurts! I know your wife is down too. Once I backed over a friends heeler pup. The bond we form with pets and working animals can run pretty deep. Sorry

Really sorry to hear that. I feel your pain, we put down a 12 year old two weeks ago. All the best to you and your wife.

Fred, I hope you are talking about a dog.
It is tough to put a pet down. Had to take our weiner dog from hell to the vet. It is not easy. My son has pet rats and we really get attached to them and they are hard to put to sleep also. At this time we have ashes for 5 dogs, 5 rats and one hedgehog.
But now for something on the lighter side.

Jim, I'm so sorry. Losing a pet that you love is like losing a family member. I'm sorry for you and I'm sorry for your wife too. She is probably feeling pretty terrible about it.
Best wishes.:)

Sorry, Jim. My wife once pinned a German Shepherd under a wheel; fortunately just by the tail. And she's been at the vet many times (she does kitten rescue) and has heard people come in who have had this same kind of experience.
I know it probably doesn't make your wife feel any better about it, but for what it's worth... it's a sad accident to be sure, but it was an accident, I hope she doesn't beat herself up too badly about it...

Baxter Black knows how to cut to the chase. Sorry about your dog. Though there will be others, they never really get replaced do they.

To put things into perspective - a local accident.

It was a 5 year old girl, not an 8 year old like the paper says. She is still in critical condition. She can use all the prayers she can get.
