Gold hunting

I love to metal detect and was wanting to know if anyone has ever look in east AL for gold or panned for it?They are a gold camp to stay at and look for gold.They are around 20000 oz come out of AL each year.copper287

I've never panned in Alabama, but if 20,000 ounces a year are coming out of there, it might be worthwhile to shake a few pans out.

95% (or is it 99%?) of loose gold is in the form of gold dust. Nuggets a metal detector can sense are very rare unless you are in a really rich hotspot.

Try to find a good concentration of gold dust and small pieces of gold, and then get out the detector. Otherwise, you will spend all day checking every rusty nail or wire around.

Yes i thought that would make a good vac for the kids to.Some thing different and might find a little gold to.That gold runs from SC,GA,AL to i think.copper287
