I started my first hive this spring and it was doing well until the last several weeks when I started to notice aggression, robbing and an intercaste queen. I replaced her with a Minnesota hygeneic that I purchased locally but I'm STILL getting queen cells after 2 weeks. The guy I bought the queen from said it could be from a lack of queen substance but that seems unlikely since it's been 2 weeks now. I'm also not seeing any new larvae.

I would just leave them alone but I've got an aggressive hive that and I would really like to chill them out with some new genetics. I'm almost to the point of letting them do their thing until spring and then trying to re-queen again.

My question is this: Since my hive is 2 deeps with all worker comb (Pierco frames), could this be why the hive is still confused and trying to replace the new queen? Right now I have zero drones. I ordered some drone frames but they haven't arrived yet. My thinking is that the hive senses there is an imbalance and they're trying to fix it by replacing the queen.

Should I keep killing the queen cells, put the drone comb in, or what? Thanks a ton.

My far off guess is in Ohio this time of year they have done kicked the free loading Drones out, here in my part of Missouri they are doing it now.

The bees will raise drones on worker sized cells { they make them bigger}
also the burr comb will be mostly drones.

Supriseingly bees know what they are doing, sometimes it's harder for them trying to correct human mistakes

They will not raise drones this time of year, unless you have a drone laying bee, so forget adding Drone foundation now.

Many good books on Bee keeping, and visiting a bee club will do wonders.

Remember Bee keeping is local.

Oh, you might want to read the post just previous to this one " Toss A Drone Day "
