Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and this is my first post, hope you guys can help me. I am a first year bee keeper.

I have 3 hives behind my house that seem to be doing good, one of them swarmed Monday on the neighbors swingset behind me. I found the hive they swarmed out of and they still have good numbers. I caught the swarm and put them into a brood box, but all I have in my frames is just foundation, no drawn out comb. I put a sugar feeder 2 parts sugar to 1 water, and I put a patty in there also. Two days ago I bought some medium supers that have drawn out comb but no honey, should I put this on top of my brood box and keep feeding them?
What is the chances of them making it this winter if I feed them all winter?

Thanks for any help or ideas.

No seriously! I thought the kids were running around like that playing a game!

At least they weren't 50 feet up a tree. How lucky for you, how many swarm
on to a ladder? I would get them some drawn out comb, feed, wish for the best. Good luck, and thanks for sharing the pic.

BeeMan,
You have had the VERY good luck of catching a LARGE swarm. It looks from the pictures that you're probably looking at 10-12 frames of bees. Remember that these bees are specifically looking for someplace to go to where they will make new comb. If you are willing to feed feed feed them, I would be optomistic that you will be able to get them to build up enough to make it through the winter in the next six weeks. I would put both drawn mediums on top of the brood box and feedfeedfeed both 2:1 and pollen. But, based on the appearently large number of bees you've got, I think you've got a chance.
