Has anyone used the desicant packs that come packed with electronics gear to control moisture in hives during the winter months? I was unpacking some stuff today ended up with 6 desicant packs and thought they may work great if I can prevent the bees from getting access to them.
Any thoughts?

Not sure if it is a good idea. Someone will tell you. But, if you were going to put them in place them in #8 screen. Make it into a little box so they cant eat it.
I would just put in some dry sugar on top of the frames or a frame feeder full of sugar. It will absorb the moisture and they will have food if needed. :D

Hives generate a LOT of moisture. You will max those little packs out in no time. They are desiccants, not dehumidifiers.

I agree, a handfull of the dessicant packs won't make a difference. In Wisconsin they would be used up before you even got to winter.
