I wanted to throw this out to get some opinions. Farmer down the road (6 miles) has 10 acres of sunflowers about to bloom. They are hybrid oil sunflowers that have been sprayed once. I have 4 hives that could use some more weight in the next month. The sumac has ended. The golden rod is out but I have yet to see any bees on it.
Would it be worth it to move say two hives over to the field of sunflowers? How risky is it since they have been sprayed?
Thanks for any input.

One other thing, ask if the farmer used use Gaucho before planting.

This popped up.

personally my bees are very close to a large planting of sun flowers not as large as yours neighbors but it seems that they will tend to stay away from that unless there is not much else just because their not as adapted to them.

IIRC, some hybrid sunflowers don't have pollen. Check to see if the sunflowers this grower has produce nectar and pollen.

But for 2 hives, isn't feeding them a little sugar water easier than moving the hives there, and then moving the hives back?
