Looking for help. Saturday I fed my hives and it was the first time I used 2:1 this year. I was concerned about robbing. Checked the hives about an hour later and saw guard bees fighting the smaller bee on the landing board. She looked strange to me and I captured her. Sunday morning the second bee, somewhat larger was in the grass in front of the hive. The pictures are the odd bees with a "normal" worker. The odd bees have a black hairless thorax with a sort of orange stripe. Clean golden abdomens with a black terminal end. The bee I saw fighting my guard bees did not appear sick or weak. I understand it is hard to tell from pictures, but what am I seeing?

They appear to be Italian-ish honeybees. The minor color variations compared to your bees are common.

Robber bees typically appear darker because they are hairless. When they try to rob another hive, all of their hair gets pulled out in the fighting. (I'm thinking I heard once they may remove their own hair because the hair carries pheromones, and without hair, they don't smell as much like a different hive and their chances of being unnoticed are better.)

THANKS ALL.
I have never heard that robber bees were sometimes hairless and I don't think I've ever read that. The combined knowledge on this site is astounding! Thanks.
