when using sbbs you take bottem board off right?

Yes, that's correct. Your SBB becomes the bottom of the hive. Some beeks put a slatted bottom board on first and then a screened bottom board. I don't. If I need to cut down on drafts, I just slide a sheet of material into the SBB.
