There is a pattern with what I see with problems in my bees 2 yrs in a row. Another local commercial beek noticed the same after I pointed it out to him. What have you noticed?
-Bees come to WI from Cali(Other beeks from FL). All looks good
-Maples and Willow bloom- bees still good
-Dandelion starts- Bees still good
-Dandelion(in fields) progresses and farmers start planting corn-Start finding more than usual dead bees at entrance
-All through dandelion and mustard bloom(both in fields) still finding dead bees at entrance( not 1,000s just more than I should)
-Dandelion and mustard about done and the bees switch to woodland forage( cherry trees, blackberries, locust, then finally basswood)
-No more fresh dead bees at entrance and the still strong are gaining fast
-Clovers and alfalfa in fields previously planted with treated corn starts to bloom.
-Dead bees at entrance are back and queens start failing and never get superceded.
Coincedence?
