Last evening I did a cut out on a two story brick building that had bee's in aclosed off window opening . It had plywood on the outside and panneling coving the inside . The comb was hanging from the top of the window casing about two feet wide and 18" long four combs deep .There was caped brood in much of it . I cut the comb loose cut and fitted it in frames and put the frames as well as all the bee's I could gather in the deep with the frames. Still had lots of bee's flying around in the inside room I was working in so I left everything untill early this morning hoping they would go to the comb/brood/queen. This morning when I went to retreive them they were in a cluster back at the top of the window . What should I have done ? Now what ? I told the owners I would be back next week with a plan to try again. Thanks in advance for any help

screen off the hive at night so the bees can't get out.

brush the cluster of bees into a small container and dump them into the hive.

repeat after flying bees re-form into a cluster.

again as needed.

take the hive home

or, build a bee vac and vacuum up all loose bees. then bring the hive and your caged bees home, releasing the caged bees in front of the hive which you have now unscreened.

Build a bee vac.

Am I understanding that you did the cutout from the inside of the window? If so, you'll need to get all those bees in the the hive and then out of the house. Bee vac is probably your best bet.

I've had some success with putting lemongrass oil in the hive. It attracts the bees into the hive and helps keep them there by mimicking the nasonov pheromone.

Yes from inside I had all I could gather and what was on the comb in the hive box but had a lot of flyers . My hope was they would join with the queen and others in the box when it cooled down and was dark . Didn, twork . I think the bee vac is worth a try

Spray the cluster down with sugar water until they are pretty sticky. Scoop them up and drop them down in the hive. Have a med or large empty box on top of the hive and brood. After you dump all of the sticky bees in the top of the empty box, close it up, strap them up and go home.

P.S. Make sure that you have screen off the entrance before you do this.
