I have some linden growing now and this little tree now has allot of flowers but only seen tons of bumbles on it but no honey bees.
The girls are in clover right now and ignore linden, well....I should say seen one only.
Question,....will it make a difference when more trees are in flower?

Konrad,
This year was very wet in Central Indiana. The bees were not interested in the Linden trees at all. We have 7 mature trees in our parking lot, lots of blossoms. No serious honeybee action. And this year the trees didn't smell like they normally do. No sweet smell like usual.

My guess is that the bees will probably take the most abundant source of nectar. It may be that the clover is producing more nectar than the linden. If there is a good supply of nectar bees have a behavior called plant fidelity. They will stick with a proven source. That's how we get a particular kind of honey.

Thank you John & Bacon!

Think you're both right....it's just I have never seen this before, hopefully I can entice them in some other years.
