Do different races of queens have different body types? The carniolan queens and purvis brothers queens I have seem to have a more elongated abdomen--like a wasp, compared to my cordovan italians.

I looked at some of my Cordovans queens yesterday that I grafted 27 days ago and they are big, But, they will get bigger as they produce more eggs per day.
You might notice that the carniolan queens have longer legs.
My queebs are large because I graft larvae that are between 12 to 17 hours old. And, I do not pu to many grafted cells in the cell builders.
I have seen some Carniolans that are shaped like a hot dog or snake.
Carniolans are noted for having a longer tongue compared to other breeds/races.
This spring I would like to buy a metric scale in micro milligrames to weigh queens.

Now that would be interesting Ernie! Although the ladies don't usually want you to know their weight! :D
Larry Conor wrote about how bigger queens are better. Not sure so much about the difference in the types, as much as the quality of the queen rearing and genetics.
He looked for at least 3 segments of abdomen sticking out past the tips of the wings - instead of the usual 2. Down in Florida they call them "Gator Tails."
