I was wondering how people clean the propolis that they collect. My bees seem to have made a lot of propolis this year and I have been collecting it every time I open the hives and also when I clean the frames and boxes after extracting.

It depends on what you want to do with it and how clean it needs to be. If you're using it yourself in capsules you can pick the big stuff out and freeze the rest and then powder it in a blender or dedicated coffee grinder with the bender style action. Then put it in the capsules. Of course there will be a few bug parts and smaller pieces of wood, but nothing that should hurt you. If you want it perfectly clean, you can mix it with Everclear as thick as you can get it to dissolve and filter it and then leave it out to dry. After the Everclear evaporates you'll have propolis left. But this is more expensive, of course.
