View Full Version : Harvest time?

In my new beginnings as a beekeeper I have noticed others talking about harvesting a super in the spring and others harvesting in the mid summer. I am concerned about when should I pull the supers that is the best time for the bees and for my best yield. I understand that location is nearly everything with beekeepers, so is there an average date for an area map? Or is it simply, when the last blooms are done, pull it in!
Thanks in advance.

Lots of opinions and practices on this one...but here is what I do....I will pull what is capped late August and let them use the fall flows for winter backfilling.

Yes lots, I pull a few frames or a super in July to have "light" honey to show at the Fair and you beeing a new keeper I am sure you would like to taste some of your own honey ( the first from your own hives is the best you will ever have) so you can take some now or wait till later it beezs up to U

Some beeks pull their honey so that they can treat and then they put supers back on for a fall flow.
