Is it best to feed the corn syrup as it comes in the drum or is is best to thin it? If thinning is ok what ratio syrup to water is best? Thanks

We go 10% water.

I add 10% water to help keep it from sugaring in cooler weather. I have added 20% water when using it for stimulative feeding but I believe it will add to faster fermentation(I could be wrong). If it is given for winter stores and not stimulative feeding it can be fed as is but is harder to pour/pump.

we pump by hand!!! So for 50 gal. drum mix ? water. Or per 5 gal. mix ? OZ. Poor at math/ For 1 gal mix ? 0z?

10% of 50 is 5. I add 5 gal water in drum then fill with HFCS(55 gal drum). That's close enough. How are you feeding it? Frame feeder, Jars, Pail w/ screen, Pail w/ holes in lid?

A few Miller top hive feeders and the rest holes in lids. Thanks

That's what we used to do when we got a load of syrup delivered and put it in drums for later use. The idea was to keep it from setting up before we used the last.

If you add 5 gallons of water to 50 gallons of syrup does that make it HFCS 48? Does the 48 last longer before crystalization occurs?

Looking to buy some HFCS 55- but no bee supplers in my area. What about restaurant supply? Who else sells this stuff?

I don't need a lot just a drum or two

Maybe your local soda pop maker would be willing to sell you some syrup.

Call Kim Flottum at Bee Culture, in Medina, OH. He probably knows where you can get some.

Simpson's sells HFCS by the 5 gallon bucket or the 50 gallon drum.
