Put up some hsc frames for sale a few months ago on this forum, and had a response from Ernie Wells, or a person who stated he was Ernie Wells of Wells Industries of Missouri stating he wanted to buy them. I was going to wait for the check before taking down the post but the moderator was proactive about it and put a hold on the thread. No problem, I thought, I will just ship when I get a check. In 20+ years of doing business I have only received one bad check out of thousands, so when I received it in the mail I just shipped it out. Beekeepers are usually a fairly trustworthy lot...I also had talked to him on the phone a few times and everything seemed on the up and up. Check bounced. Called and he apologized hand over foot. Just an error. Bounces again. Same discussion. Bounces a third time. Call the number of the bank on the check. Does not work. Turns out these are very old checks, and the bank has long ago moved to a new location. Talked with the bank and they refer me to the prosecuting attorney. This has apparently happened before. Just a heads up for anyone.
