Hatching Queen

This past week has been filled with events that I was only able to witness due to perfect timing. Call me lucky. These are events that I had NEVER before had the pleasure of seeing or doing: Stumbling upon a swarm of feral bees and capturing them, watching my own hive swarm, and watching a beautiful, slender queen hatch from her cell. I've had bees for two years now and never really realized just how shy a queen bee really is. She popped out of her cell and made a dash for cover. I love experiencing "firsts". Life is good in the world of beekeeping, isn't it?
