Yesterday we harvested and today left the extractor out for the bees to clean up. They were all over it with the leftover remnants of honey and had it clean by day's end, but I noticed bees just sitting on my driveway about 50 feet away. There weren't doing much at all, just sitting there. They've never done this before and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the honey left in the extractor. They were there late in the day and may be there now after sunset for all I know. Any clue on this?

Yes, I have clue.
I would hazard a guess that either these were bees injured in the feeding frenzy that had taken place.

Or,

my guess I am favoring a bit more is,,,
being that a feeding frenzy took place, the bees would want to put in for a bit of over time work. Perhaps, they were simply caught out a bit late (it did get cool last night in our region), and as bees do, they were simply seeking out warm places to settle and spend the night, or perhaps to warm up a bit for the more romantic sunset flight home.

Best Wishes
Joe
