I have also created a group for SC AKA Sandlapper beeks. The USC in my name is for THE Univ. Of SC. Moved to TN in Nov '97 but I still love my home state. As an Army brat I was born a "Georgia Cracker" but don't hold that against me.

Most of my immediate family lives in Calhoun and Orangeburg counties. When I visit family I have only seen some honeybees once and that was this year on my mom's apple tree. Everything I see pollenated is being done by mason and bumblebees. :s

Would like to know if there are any beeks in this part of the country on this site. I know that there are a fair amount of peachtree farms in both counties but don't know of any that are using honeybees. (But I haven't asked around much. Did ask the retired county agent for Calhoun County that lives next to my mom and he can't think of any fruit farms using honeybees. Even his fruit near Stumphole Landing is being pollenated by mason and bumblebees.

P.S.

Taters, are welcome too! :) We are all lovers of honeybees, sports affiliations aside..

Hey ken I am in Charleston sc though I am only a hobbyist there are at least some commercial beeks in this area as the farmers on johns and Edisto island that I know rent hives for pollination. Our wild population is almost nonexistent though.

Yea, I am familiar with that area too. Have family in the Charleston/Goose Creek area. Lot of truck farming on the islands.
