hi i recently started keeping bees, about 2 months ago. things were looking good for about the first month, they were adapting to the new environment, making new comb, and seemed to be relying less and less on the food i fed them. i then had to take a vacation for about a month, and got someone else on my farm to take care of them for me. when i got back (2 days ago) i took a look at them and noticed that they had not yet made any new comb. i was concerned at this, and so looked inside for anything like diseases and signs of swarming. i am not entirely sure at this, but i didn't see any sign of new/old queen cells. i found a few cells that look like they have a white mold on them, but when i looked at pictures of chalk brood, they didn't look anything like each other, and didn't see any larve inside them, so it could just be a cell of white pollen.
so, i came here to see if theres any known reason as to why honey bees would not have made any new comb...
thanks!
tom
