I have a question. When you see clover honey advertised in the stores, does this come from the same clover that everyone has in there yard, just planted on a comercial basis? If so, what seems to be the yeild from clover, in regards to nectar harvest? If not, what is the average flow from yard clover? (the small white flowered variety)

I don't know how they get away with advertising clover honey, i guess they don't put the word PURE in it. Most honey will have clover in it if it's available, but it will have other nectar mixed in. The small white clover is called Dutch clover, i don't know the nectar flow from it but it is one of our major flows here in SW Mo. Jack
I think most clover honey producers are making their honey in the upper midwest (Dakotas) on vast fields of sweet clover.

So in the south, it is a fairly good source of nectar? I am in the middle of NC. We currently have sourwood, and clover are about the only two that are blooming now, and I have been told that this area does not usually produce a good flow from sourwood. Most will take honey with in the next week.
