Can someone tell me what the girls are doing in this video?
Hottest day of the season yet, 95 degrees, late afternoon and sun has gone below the tree line so hive is shaded but hot, no recent rain and in the north GA mountains.
It looks like they are maybe cleaning something off the front deck but I can figure what it might be.

It's called washer boarding. Why they do it. No one knows. I have a theory. Soon to post it. ;)

Wash Boarding. A sure sign that your flow is coming to a close or gone. Why they do it is a mystery for sure. You're probably seeing some bearding even later in the day by now.

Could be that they're just playing with the minds of those with a perceived higher intelligence like humans. They have all that unused energy and nothing better to do than make us insane trying to guess what they are doing!

No doubt there are plenty of theories and also no doubt derek's will be at the very least entertaining. It's just that it's debatable whether or not it will be allowed on the board or not?!?! :waiting: Gotta watch that boy like a tree full of owls ya know!! :D

I have teo hives that wash board 24/7 and use propalis to its fullest extent on everything, inside and out, they are the most active and best producing bees in the yard. I have watched these bees for hours and they are all young bees and not field bees. The honey flow times did not seem to have any effect on this behavior.

throw some dirt on the front, and watch........thats what I did. Its kinda cool. Mine have been doing it for four days now. The ONLY time they stopped was when some of the burn pile smoke whisked by the hive and they all went inside for about 10 minutes....

Don't know why it's a mystery. The bees are efficiency experts and they went to the Waste not - Want not school. Sticky feet leave some build up of groceries coming and going.
