From Upstate NY, I've been beekeeping for my 3rd year now. 1st year had two hives lost 1 due to rolled queen to late in season. 2nd year had 2 hives and both survived. Currently have 4 hives and I'm loving all I have learned so far. My goal is to produce 55gals of honey a year forsale and all I can eat and give away to family/friends. Balm and candles are bonus perks. I would like to do this as green as possible and without any or few purchases. I have built everything myself except for foundation. The latest thing I have learned is the girls are really I mean really unhappy without their queen, as I have made a nuc with newly laid eggs to force a queen being rasied.
