Hi, I'm new to beekeeping and to using forums, but my many questions have driven me here. I am taking care of 2 new hives for a local non-profit, so they did all the choosing of hives and bees and I am caring for them. We've had a cool spring, and that seems to have made the one hive really slow, either that or their queen is old, as they have queen cells already.
I am also having a hard time getting the smoker to last for as long as it takes me to check the hives. One local beekeeper suggested I get burlap and wrap woodchips. Any other ideas?
By the way, this site is WONDERFUL! I wish I'd discovered it sooner.
