Hi folks. I mistakenly thought my hive had AFB or EFB. State inspector says I don't--- Yahoo! But before he came out and put my mind at ease I did medicate with Tylan (Tylosin) and removed any partly filled super frames. Now (2 weeks after medicating) I have supers back on but I've heard that I don't want to use the honey that may be contaminated with the antibiotics.
Thoughts?

If you had no honey supers on your hive when you treated, then they don't have any "contaminated" honey in them. So, don't extract any honey from the brood boxes. Your honey should be alright, imo.

How much honey do you usually get from your hive? If there is any Tylan in the honey in the honey supers it's consentration will be diluted by the volume of honey that you extract, to some extent. So the amount per serving won't be that great. I could be full of you know what, but that's my pov. For what it's worth.

I'm sure that there are more knowledgable folks on Beesource. I hope you get encouragement from them.

A quick look at the Tylan labeling "Residue Warning" info online suggests that treatment should be completed "at least four weeks prior to main honey flow."

Well I guess he should put another deep super on and leavew all of the honey for wintering.

Read the label before using.

I do not think you will have problems if you dusted them. If you put it in suryp you will have issues. That is why you dust so that you lower your risk of contamination. If you did not put supers on for two weeks after treating and there was no tylan left on the top bars you may be O.K. but you may want to wait a little longer next time.
