I have out of 8 hives lost two queens. The first one I went to release her and she was dead in the cage. requeened no problem. Hive doing fine. The second one 5 days ago I found her outside of the hive with a few bees around it. It looked strange and it was. She was dead. That hive is makeing a new queen and I was wondering what the deal is loosing this many queens.
Any Ideas.
The more hives you have the faster you learn.

I have had queens that were superceded shortly after I installed a package. I have had one swarm replace their queen and I have rolled, injured and accidentally killed a queen and they made emergency cells.

I have been told that poisons used in the hive, the queen was from, for treatment may affect whether the queen will be replaced. If the workers sense a problem with her they will replace her.

Packages sometimes supersede a queen in short order. It's an odd situation. A package of bees, shipped across the country, with a caged queen that they don't know. She often takes a while to get going while the workers clocks are telling them that they should be taking care of brood right away. Things don't seem "quite right" and they blame it on their queen.
