Wow Im having fun. Out of 10 packages 8 of them have capped swarm cells or have swarmed this week. I had the flu last weekend so wasn't able to check the hives. Tonight I thought I would take a look and sure enough they have cells galore. All of them are in 2 deeps about 60% pulled out.

I guess this years weather was perfect for stimulating swarms. We went straight from 30-40 to 80-90. I couldnt even hardly get them to draw comb at all before the 1st nectar flow. Now there is no where to put it.

hopefully next year I will have enough drawn comb to prevent this.

What else can one do? I feel responsible but I really dont think I could have done anything to prevent it.

Take Care!

Same thing out here at the coast. Out of 8 4 framed nucs I started mid April, 4 have swarmed. In all of my years of beekeeping I've never had 1st year splits swarm like this. The nectar flow has been phenominal with the warm weather the last two weeks. Good luck with the rest of your season!

Similar in Fort Wayne area. Last week I got a swarm call every day and 2 a couple of days. Most of my over wintered hives have swarm cells or have already swarmed despite my best efforts to prevent it. A number of swarm calls are coming from areas of town where there are no beekeepers so there must be a decent feral bee population still going strong in Fort Wayne and they must like all the rain we are having.
