So i bought 2 nucs this year. One was stronger than the other and it swarmed a couple days ago (about a basketball size).
I caught those and put them into a borrowed nuc. I just checked the swarmed hive and found about 4 empty queen cells. I found 2 not empty cells, one i ripped off and there was a queen inside (mostly formed but very white. THinking that since this hive swarmed and i have not seen a queen in there i thought CRAP! What if they are trying to make a new queen and I just killed it :).
Found another queen cell in tact and i left this one. I have heard about afterswarms. I would rather not have more swarms. I read everywhere that first year you should not expect honey, I put a super on this hive and it has been filling up with honey so I was thinking i would get some. Stop swarming bees and make me honey!!!
I swapped 3 frames of pulled come (about 1/2 way out) and put it into my weak hive, took those unpulled frames and put them into the stronger hive (that did swarm so they might be the weaker hive now!). That hive has had a super on it for about 3 weeks and has yet to pull any comb! I just removed the queen excluder from between, figure that I could use some more pulled comb (medium) and to see if that would help them get going.
Any advice on any of the above would be great. Thanks all!!!
